You know how some people die? Well, these folk didn't, so relax mom. We have a tradition here at The Second City where on someone's last night on a stage or in the TourCo, we let them run the improv set. Traditionally, their fellow company members tell embarrassing stories and fun anecdotes about the departed and their time on the road. Sort of like a wake, only with a few more pitchers of beer and the person is still alive. So, more like a living wake then. Here it is, our fond farewell to TourCo members who are moving on from us. We wish you the best.

Tim Sniffen

Hopped On the Bus: 5/21/06
Waved Goodbye: 1/19/09

Tim Sniffen left our Touring Company, the Blue Company, on Monday, January 19th, 2009 after two and half years or so of Merrymaking in the name of the Temple of Satire. Tim left us at just the right time – when we weren't quite sick of him yet.

Actually, I take that back. Maybe he was sick of us. That picture of Tim, exasperated, wishing we would all play along? That isn't a joke. Tim knows a secret - That all is much easier if you just play along. Go with what has been given to you, and instead of raging against it, why not try playing with it and see where you fit in?

Tim is good at so many things because Tim is good at Life. Things are simple and easy, and being barefoot is lovely, and Life is always better with a pastry in your hand.

I hope he leaves us knowing that he always makes more out of everything when he is around. Things with Tim are just more fun, more amazing, and more interesting. It's like being friends with a giant little kid who happens to have the creative vocabulary of Will Shortz and the snark of Paul Lynde. A bitchy little kid who can destroy you or lift you up with a mere sigh.

I also hope Tim looks back fondly on his touring days, although I don't think he is one for nostalgia. Another “Good at Life” thing he has going for him.

I'm excited to see what he does with Life next. Miss you, Tim.
